Omenakompotti – Apple compote

A very healthy and simple recipe that lets you add that extra something to your korvapuusti (cinnamon bun), p (porridge) or even just enjoy it on its own.

yields around 2 jam glasses

4 apples, e.g. Braeburn
1 cup water
cinnamon, optional
empty jam glasses, sterilised

Wash the apples, skin and core them before you cut them into eights and then into little pieces.
Add them together with the water to the pan and let them cook for about 10 min. I like it when it still has some pieces, but you can also puree it to have a smooth apple sauce.
If desired you can add cinnamon.
Fill some empty and sterilised jam glasses with the still hot sauce, close the lid and place them upside down until they are cool.
